I Was Left Off The List!

Filed under: Uncategorized — lawsonjolly @ 5:00 am

Have you ever been omitted on a list where you know you should have been listed?  I think that happens sometimes in our life.  It happened to me recently, and I don’t understand.  Perhaps it is because there would have been so many others on the list.  I know they only list the first 10, but I still believe I would have made that list, along with many of you.

Forbes magazine has released this year’s list of the 10 richest people in the world.  Perhaps you have read that Carlos Slim of Mexico, with his wealth estimated at $53.5 billion, is now considered the richest person in the world.  He jumped past Microsoft founder, Bill Gates, and investor, Warren Buffett.

Now I understand there are different measurements used to calculate wealth.  Perhaps I can bow to these men who have accumulated wealth that can be counted in assets of cash and investments.  But, if Forbes limited the measurement to true wealth, I would be on that list.  I believe you would also say that your name would be on the list.

If someone is confused, let me explain and evoke you to seek the same treasure and wealth I possess.  Perhaps before I make other statements, the words of a song will give you a preview to my explanation.

“My Father is rich in houses and lands, He holdeth the wealth of the world in His hands!                          Of rubies and diamonds, of silver and gold, His coffers are full.  He has riches untold.                                  I’m a child of the King, A child of the King, With Jesus my Savior, I’m a child of the King.”

Are you with me now?  Do you agree that those of us who are children of God are the wealthiest people in the world?  Our Father owns it all!  And all that the Father has, is ours!  Along with you, I might not be included on that list of the wealthiest people as measured by earthly assets and currency.  But unless those on the list are  children of God, they are much poorer than I.

How can I begin to measure all the Father has given and provided for me?

“The blessings of the Lord brings wealth.”  (Proverbs 10:22)  “Wealth and honor come from you.”  (1 Chronicles 29:12)  “You will be made rich in every way so that you can be generous on every occasion . . . .”  (2 Corinthians 9:11)
