Bionic Me

Filed under: Uncategorized — lawsonjolly @ 5:00 am

Am I on my way to being a bionic man?  Am I going to be like Steve Austin in the television series, The Six Million Dollar Man?  If so, it is slow coming!

With my new orthotics, I am anticipating some changes!  I read about these orthotics and I see the recurring word biomechanics.  Is that what gave Steve Austin his power and speed?  He was able to run at speeds of 60 miles per hour.  If I can do that, I can get to the store faster running than in the car!  Think of the gas I will save!  And can you imagine the policeman who finally catches up with me . . . and is too stunned to give me a speeding ticket?

These orthotics are intended to bring me into alignment!  Their purpose is to correct the function of the movable parts of my body.  How does it work?  I can’t answer my own question.  I will trust and assume that it will accomplish the purpose intended.  Will my feet, legs, knees, and hips all move differently?  Time will tell, I am told.  I suppose that means that I will not know for a while if I can outrun Steve Austin!

I wanted to assume the immediate.  No waiting — just an immediate change!  There must be a learning curve with all this.  I assume that I must expect some difficulties.  After all, I was not born walking.  I had to learn to walk.  I can’t remember any of those days, however.  But I wonder how many times did I fall down before I could walk?

In light of falling many times as a baby before I could walk, I commit myself to determination.  If I could prevail on learning to walk as a baby, surely as a thinking adult, I can accomplish this new walk in my life.  I will not give up.  I will follow the doctor’s orders on the proper use of the devices.  I will also settle for much less than a foot race with Steve Austin.  I don’t care to be the Six Million Dollar man.  I just want to be me!  Of course, with better movement!

Perhaps I need to more focused on biblia-thotics!  (I made up that word!)  There is absolutely no definition for that word.  However, I use it for attention on a subject.  As the orthotics are to cause correction, bring about a new alignment, and correct my walk — doesn’t that describe a purpose for the Bible?

If I desire correction in my daily walk . . .  if I desire for my life to be in alignment with the will of God . . . if I desire for my life to have less discouragement . . . if I desire for my life to have more purpose . . . then I need to yield myself to that spiritual “orthotic” called the Word of God.  It will do the job in me  . . .  but I must yield to it as I am yielding to these orthotics for which I have been fitted!  You’ve grasped this truth as I have, haven’t you?  We each need to submit to what God’s Word can do in and for our lives! We must determine not to falter.  We must be purpose driven!

“All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.”  (2 Timothy 3:16,17)  “Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves.  Do what it says.”  (James 1:22)
