N.I.V.

One of our daughter’s good friends is Kathy Troccoli.  Kathy is often a guest at our daughter’s events, Fresh Grounded Faith, ( www.freshgroundedfaith.com; www.jenniferrothschild.com).

Recently, Judy and I had the opportunity to spend some extended time with her.  Kathy, as the Christian world knows, is an award-winning singer, songwriter, speaker and author of several books. With record sales reaching two million, Kathy has enjoyed 17 number-one radio hits, 19 Dove Award nominations, 2 Dove Awards, and 3 Grammy nominations.  Accolades load her resume.

It is easy to miss the person for viewing her success, or even just being blessed by her music.  But she is a real person —  very real and genuine.  She is a passionate believer with no timidity.  She would say it comes from being raised in Brooklyn, and of Italian decent.

She has a wonderful testimony of salvation, and quips that she read her first Bible when she was given an N.I.V. translation.  Most of us assume that she meant the New International Version — no, Kathy meant the “New Italian Version.”  And indeed, she is a living version of the power of God in a life!

She has known many difficulties that people face in life.  She bears scars which have equipped her to present an insightful perspective on how to handle events that individuals face.  She is not only a gifted singer, but ministers so effectively verbally.

God brings persons into our lives often at a moment when we need a word from God.  God can use other people to be the vehicle through which He sends His message.  Perhaps, Kathy is just such a person for you today.  Get to know her.  (www.troccoli.com)

All of us are a message to others.  Through our lives, God writes and makes known His love for us. Kathy’s may be the “Italian Version” that some read.  What is mine?  Whatever “version” is reflected in my life, it must be the Word of God.

Through all of our circumstances, our lives become a message to others.  They  read how we handle situations.  They observe our behavior, reactions, and faith.  We truly are an individual “version” of God’s Word and work in a life.  No one needs to be a “copy” of another, but simply to be the “version” God intended.  The purpose of that is so He can communicate to specific persons.  Imagine, today, someone will be reading you!  Be a letter from God with no errors!

“You yourselves are our letter, written on our hearts, known and read by everybody.  You show that you are a letter from Christ . . . written not with ink but with the Spirit of the living God, not on tablets of stone, but on tablets of human hearts.”  (2 Corinthians 3:2,3)

  1. Thanks, Lawson, for the reminder of the message of this wonderful verse! We were just talking about that in our Life Group last night. You and Judy have been letters from God written on my heart through the years. I am grateful to Him. Maggie
