A Comforting Thought

Filed under: Uncategorized — lawsonjolly @ 5:00 am

I have not been able to blog for several months.  So many of you have continued to check my site and there have been so many new readers. Whenever there is not a new blog, I encourage you to go to the archives, click on a year, then choose a month, and then place your cursor over one of the days of that month.  A title for the blog on that day will appear.  You can choose a blog, and then once there, you can scroll up or down to other blogs. There are over 700 blogs to date.

Allow me to share a new thought with you today that I believe can be a comfort to you at certain times in your life.  It has been a comfort to me. If you have not experienced it, you can certainly visualize the scene. The baby is attempting to walk.  The baby has on diapers and you watch as he attempts to take a few steps. Almost, without exception, when the baby cannot continue, he just sits down backwards on his bottom.

But what usually happens?  To prevent that hard fall, a parent or someone is following behind the baby.  And as he begins to fall back hard on his bottom, the adult places his or her hands under the baby’s bottom to prevent the hard fall to the floor.

Now transfer that scene to this.  “The eternal God is your refuge, and underneath are the everlasting arms.”  (Deuteronomy 33:27)  We all know our Father in heaven is our place of refuge — our hiding place, our place of security.  But focus on the second part — “. . . underneath are the everlasting arms.” Do you see our Eternal God with His loving hands always under us — breaking our fall . . . gently caring for us . . . protecting us?  If an earthly parent will care so for that baby . . . how much more our Heavenly Father will care for us.

Take comfort in the knowledge that all of us who have found God to be our Father through our faith in His Son are so cared for.  I trust you will claim this thought as you journey today.

  1. Thank you for the encouraging words. I needed that image of God catching me and carrying me in His loving arms. Dudley.

  2. As you know, my husband is going through a bit of a health problem right now. Your Comforting Thought reminded me and comforted me that we are not alone. Thank you. Hugs to you both. Glad you are feeling better. God is great!
